How can the fashion industry adapt to enhanced regulations on human rights and the environment?

Can A.I. Revolutionise Retail? How can we shift from opportunistic to strategic sourcing?

These are just some of our industry’s pressing issues to be addressed through the Global Sourcing Seminar program at the China Clothing Textiles & Accessories Expo from 21 – 23 November in Melbourne.

Spanning topics relevant to buyers and designers across Australia’s retail sector, the Global Sourcing Seminar Program affords attendees the opportunity to bolster their exploration of hundreds of potential manufacturing partners with practical and informative seminars.

On Day 1 of the event Microsoft Australia’s Retail Industry Director, Samjay Prakash, takes to the stage to inspire forward-thinking businesses to consider how Artificial Intelligence is helping the retail industry to understand customers better, enhance operations, and unlock unprecedented value across the ecosystem.

Gaynor Scott’s session, ‘Moving from Opportunistic to Strategic Sourcing – unlocking ESG opportunity’, promises to equip buyers with the ‘know-how’ of sourcing from different regions. By the end of this session, attendees will be equipped with practical tips and advice to help them ask the right questions to potential suppliers – something they can put into action immediately by connecting with manufacturers from 15 countries and regions across the China Clothing Textiles & Accessories Expo and the colocated Global Sourcing Expo and Footwear and Accessories Show.

Finally, to help buyers respond to the increasing pressure of increasing human rights and sustainability expectations, Bonnic Chung, Strategic Advisor, Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), will share her perspective on practical steps buyers can take to meet current and future requirements to ensure human rights are protected in the global workplace.

Organiser of the China Clothing Textiles & Accessories Expo, Melissa Wortley, explains how visitors can maximise their time at the expo. “It’s important to plan your visit,” she says. “I always recommend that visitors identify the seminars and exhibitors that are of most interest to them and anchor their visit around the session times. Between seminars, take time to connect with the suppliers, exploring the vast ranges of apparel, footwear, home textiles and accessories”.

The China Clothing Textiles & Accessories Expo, Global Sourcing Expo and Footwear and Accessories Show will be held under one roof at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 November 2023. Registration and entry to the expos is free. Seminar tickets cost $40 per session. For more information, visit chinatextiles.com.au
